I was born and raised in a working class community on the Eastside of Portland, Oregon. I’ve got two older sisters and a younger brother. We are all proud graduates of David Douglas High School and Portland State University. I am also a graduate of Lewis and Clark Law School.
I try to spend my time outside of the law helping people, too. Most often my want to help translates into political activism. In 2007, during my second year of law school, I ran for State Representative and won. During my time in office I championed consumer protection legislation, including spearheading efforts to hold Wall Street and big insurance companies accountable for their bad acts. In 2012, I was elected as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. Today, I volunteer actively for candidates running for local, state, and national offices.
I love being outdoors. In Portland, I skateboard and bike—rain or shine. Most weekends involve day hikes in Forest Park, Powell Butte, or Columbia River Gorge. Time off is spent on road trips visiting Oregon’s wonders like the Painted Hills, Smith Rock, and Crater Lake. Or anywhere along the Oregon Coast.
